Andes Central School District has hired three new teachers for the 2009-2010 school year.
Donyelle Petersen has been hired to be the Title I Reading Intervention Teacher in the Elementary School. Petersen most recently taught in Winner, SD. She lives in Platte, SD.
Heather Nielsen has been hired to teach both elementary and high school music. She will team teach with Linda Iverson who has taught K-12 music for eight years at Andes Central. They will teach band and choir together and split the grade school. Nielsen graduated from SDSU in May with a Music Education degree. She's originally from Howard, SD. Nielsen, who currently lives in Wagner, SD plans to be married next July.
William "Pete" Jamison has been hired to teach Industrial Technology "Shop" classes at Andes Central High School. Jamison, who lives in Lake Andes, has taught 16 years and most recently taught in Westerville, Ohio. Jamison indicted that he'd like to work on adding modules to the existing shop program at Andes Central. He also commented that Lake Andes was nice, peaceful and the people were very friendly.
